ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan and Uzbekistan have agreed on strengthening the bilateral relations in agriculture and relevant sectors.

The understanding was reached when the Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Sikandar Hayat Khan Bosan met an Uzbek delegation headed by the Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Ulugbek Rozikuloy in Islamabad.

During the meeting, the two sides held a detailed discussion on areas of mutual interests including agriculture, agro machinery, processed food, dry fruits, fresh fruits, cotton, milk & its by-products and leather.

The two sides agreed that memorandums of understanding (MoUs) between Pakistan and Uzbekistan on mutual corporation and collaboration in these sectors will be signed and processed at the earliest.

The minister informed the Uzbek deputy prime minister that the above mentioned areas are of utmost importance to our country as being an agro-based economy. He said that 70 percent of our gross domestic product (GDP) is dependent on agricultural sector where as 45 percent labor of our country comes from agricultural sector.

Sikandar Hayat Khan Bosan also appreciated the exhibition being displayed in Serena regarding agricultural machinery of Uzbekistan.

The Uzbek deputy prime minister informed the minister regarding the annual international exhibitions arranged in Uzbekistan on Textile, Agriculture and heavy machinery and also invited the team of experts of relevant fields to visit these exhibitions as and when they are organized.
