MULTAN, Pakistan: Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) Punjab has launched special action against drug peddlers providing narcotics to students in different educational institutions.

Special raids were conducted in Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Lahore, Kasur, Mianwali and Multan and 20 drug peddlers were arrested near colleges and universities when they were going to supply drugs mostly Hashish (charas) to students. Arrested drug peddlers include one woman also.

According to information, Muhammd Shahbaz, Aslam alias Ganja, Muhammad Safdar, Sawab Khan, Zeenat Khan, Jamshad alias Swati, Shar Ali and Muhammad Ijaz were rounded up during special raids.

Special raids are conducted on the directions of DG ANF Maj Gen Musarat Nawaz Malik to crack networking of providing narcotics to students.

“Demand in colleges and schools are higher than before and students give good price for drugs. Since we have demand, therefore we supply drugs”, said Zeenat Khan during his interrogation. He also revealed that girls from colleges are also buy Hashish but demand is ready to smoke cigarettes among girls. It may be mentioned that Hashish, or hash, is a drug made from cannabis.

It may be mentioned that the provincial government of Sindh is already considering compulsory blood tests of applicant for checking use of drugs before providing them admissions in colleges.

A number of drug abuses watching non government organisations claim that usage of drugs is increasing in schools of federal capital of Pakistan Islamabad. However, this claim is denied by capital administration.

The Air Chief reiterated his resolve to further enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners. Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
