RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The German Ambassador Martin Kobler to Pakistan met the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa at the army’s general headquarters in Rwalpindi on Tuesday, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
In a press release issued in Rawalpindi, the ISPR said that during the meeting between the COAS and the German ambassador, matters of mutual interest including regional peace and stability were discussed.
The ambassador acknowledged Pakistan army’s contributions towards regional peace and stability.
The appreciation and acknowledgement from Germany came at a time when Pakistan’s ally in the war on terror United States suspended its defence cooperation to Islamabad, accusing the latter of not taking decisive action against all terror outfits especially Haqqani Network.
The US President Donald Trump in his notorious tweet on January 1 taunted Pakistan of receiving $33 billion in last 15 years from the United States but yet tried to befool Washington.
However, Pakistan utterly rejected Trump’s accusation and pointed out that its sacrifices in war on terror were unprecedented; therefore, the US must be thankful to Pakistan for helping Washington, which is heavily dependent on Islamabad for providing logistic support to forces fighting against Taliban in the war-torn Country.
