ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Acting Foreign Minister of Iran Ali Bagheri Kani called the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Saturday and shared the Iranian nation’s and leadership’s deep anguish on the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran on the occasion of the inauguration of the President of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian.

The deputy prime minister conveyed similar sentiments and Pakistan’s condemnation of the developments in Gaza and the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh in the strongest possible terms, a heinous act also unanimously condemned by the National Assembly of Pakistan.

The Iranian acting foreign minister also requested the deputy prime minister to participate in the Extraordinary Meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) being convened at the Foreign Ministers level.

Senator Ishaq Dar fully supported this call and confirmed that Pakistan would actively participate in the important meeting.

Earlier on Friday, Iran’s Acting Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani urged the OIC to hold an Extraordinary Foreign Ministerial Meeting following the assassination of Hamas top leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran.

On his official X account, Bagheri wrote that in separate phone calls with the UN Secretary General António Guterres, EU Foreign Policy Chief and his Counterparts from Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkiye, Egypt, Jordan, Russia, and Algeria, he has strongly condemned the assassination, warning about the consequences of the continuation of such crimes by the Zionist Israeli regime.
