Foreign OfficePakistan has solid proof of Indian involvement in terrorism: Foreign Office

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Foreign Office said on Thursday that there were irrefutable evidences that Indian state actions had been involved in perpetrating terrorism in Pakistan.

In weekly press briefing in Islamabad on Thursday, the Foreign Office Spokesperson Nafees Zakariya reminded the Indian state institutions also carried out terrorism on Indian soil and blamed it on others.

While taking a strong exception of the Indian External Affairs Ministry’s statement on Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) Chief Hafiz Saeed’s house arrest, the spokesperson said that Indian should have taken corrective measures for itself rather commenting on the affairs of other countries.

In a statement released on Wednesday in twitter after Pakistan placed Hafiz Saeed in house arrest, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Vikas Swarup said that “Only a credible crack down on the mastermind of the Mumbai and terrorist attack and terrorist organizations involved in cross border terrorism would be proof of Pakistan’s sincerity.”

Nafees Zakariya said that Pakistan took all actions against proscribed outfits and terrorist elements without any discrimination in the larger national interest and in line with international obligations. He said that Pakistan’s efforts against terrorism were also acknowledged at the world level.

While expressing concerns over the ongoing human rights violations in occupied Kashmir, the spokesperson said that India was trying to change demography of Occupied Kashmir and the international community should have taken notice of this development.

The spokesman said that the United Nations and the World Community had an obligation and should have made vigorous efforts for the resolution of outstanding Kashmir dispute.

“This is vital to ensure peace and stability in the South Asian region,” Zakaria said.

When asked about the Indian decision to increase defense expenditures by 10 percent, the spokesperson said that Pakistan was opposed to any conventional and nuclear arms race in the region. He said that Pakistan was maintaining minimum deterrence for its self-defense.

The foreign office spokesperson described the Indian arms buying spree as a threat to region, adding that Pakistan did not want to indulge in any arms race.

While commenting on new US visa policy, the spokesperson said that it was every country’s sovereign right to decide its immigration policy but such decisions were not without humanitarian and political dimensions that need to be looked at and considered in going forward.

Nafees Zakariya emphasized the need that the countries needed to adopt policies that were not susceptible to be exploited by entities wishing to see cracks in the coalition against terrorism along religious lines. He said that Pakistan looked forward to strengthening relations with the United States.
