ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan on Saturday strongly condemned horrific suicide attacks at two mosques in Afghanistan.

On Friday, two suicide blasts struck mosque in Afghanistan’s Capital Kabul and Central Ghor province, leaving at least 72 worshipers martyred.

In a statement issued in Islamabad, the Foreign Office said that the government and people of Islamic Republic of Pakistan stand in solidarity with the government and our Afghan brothers who underwent this ordeal and suffered the terrible attacks.

“We convey our heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and pray for early recovery of the injured,” the statement said.

The statement further said that Pakistan reiterates its unequivocal condemnation of terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, and reaffirms its commitment for unrelenting efforts for eliminating this menace.

In the first attack that took place in a Shia-dominated Imam-e-Zaman Mosque in southwestern Kabul, at least 39 persons were killed while the second attack ripped through a Sunni Muslim Mosque in Dulaina District of Ghor province, killing a former Taliban Commander among others.
