ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan and Azerbaijan on Thursday held delegation-level talks at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad to review the entire spectrum of bilateral relations, the Dispatch News Desk (DND) news agency reported.

The Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi led the Pakistani Side in the delegation-level talks whereas the Azerbaijan’s Side was led by Jeyhun Bayramov.

The talks focused on various aspects of enhancing Pakistan-Azerbaijan bilateral cooperation in the fields of education, culture, and technology.

The two sides also deliberated on the promotion of economic, trade, and defense cooperation between the two Countries.

The two foreign ministers stressed the need to enhance the bilateral economic cooperation, especially in the energy sector.

During the talks, consideration was also given to enhancing the bilateral cooperation in the fields of science and agriculture.

The two foreign ministers agreed to work together to address the implications of the global pandemic challenge.

In addition, they also agreed to enhance land and air links between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.

The Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that in line with Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision, we want to expand the economic relations with Azerbaijan.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Pakistan Ali Alizada was also present in the talks.

Following the talks, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the Disaster Management Cooperation between Pakistan and Azerbaijan was signed.

The two foreign ministers signed the MoU.

Earlier upon his arrival, Shah Mahmood Qureshi warmly welcomed the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov.

The Azeri foreign minister planted a sapling at the Lawn of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and prayed for the prosperity and stability of the two Countries.

Jeyhun Bayramov is in Islamabad on a two-day visit from January 13 to 14, 2021 as the first Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan to embark a visit to Pakistan since 2010.

Last evening, he participated in the 2nd Pakistan-Turkey-Azerbaijan Trilateral Meeting in Islamabad.
