ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Following weeks of heightened tension at the borders, Pakistan and India will resume bilateral diplomatic talks on March 14 ranging from easing tension and resuming normal contacts between their diplomats, the Dispatch News Desk (DND) news agency reported.

The two nuclear armed neighbours have been in a warlike situation since the Pulwama incident. Their border as well as aerial forces remained in a fierce battle with each other, resulting in multiple casualties on both sides.

However now the two countries will have a diplomatic opportunity to sit across the table and discuss to shun the ongoing war like environment which is raising questions about the future of a region having population of over four billion and border engagement between two nuclear states.

The diplomatic circles in Islamabad believe that when the two countries will discuss a draft agreement on the Kartarpur Corridor in New Delhi on March 14, it will also pave the way for them to deliberate upon a large range of issues to normalize the situation at borders.

Meanwhile talking to the Pakistan High Commissioner to India Sohail Mehmood in Islamabad on Thursday, the Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi reiterated Pakistan’s desire to de-escalate the tense situation with India, saying that improved bilateral relations between Pakistan and India would ensure peace and stability in the region.

The foreign minister said that the direct contacts between Pakistan and India are of high significance.

It is pertinent to mention here that Pakistan High Commissioner Sohail Mehmood will leave for New Delhi today.
