RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The Director General Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asif Ghafoor has said that Pakistan army is an organized institution, and it knows that how to defend the Country and its dignity but for us the Country is always atop.

In his brief Press Conference in Rawalpindi on Thursday which followed the issuance of detailed judgement of the Special Court against the former Army Chief General (retd) Pervez Musharraf, the dictator general ISPR said that Pakistan army is only an institution but a family.

The DG ISPR said that Pakistan armed forces have rendered a lot of sacrifices, and we know very well that how to protect our institution but for us, the Country comes first.

Major General Asif Ghafoor said that Pakistan armed forces accomplished such uphill tasks, which rest of the world could merely make endeavors for and remained unsuccessful.

Alluding the detailed judgement issued by the Islamabad’s Special Court in the Pervez Musharraf High Treason Case, the DG ISPR said that the concerns expressed earlier over the brief verdict against General (retd) Pervez Musharraf proved to be true in the detailed verdict.

The director general ISPR said that the words used in the judgement were contrary to religious and social values.

Major General Asif Ghafoor said that a conspiracy is being hatched to destabilize the Country internally; however, he remarked that they would not let nefarious designs of inimical elements be succeeded.

In addition, he also told the media that the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa held a detailed discussion with Prime Minister Imran Khan today.

The DG ISPR said that the government will apprise the media about the decisions taken in the meeting between the prime minister and the COAS shortly.

Govt to file reference against Justice Waqar Ahmad Seth

Meanwhile according to informed sources, the federal government has decided to file a reference against the Head of the Special Court Judge Justice Waqar Ahmad Seth for writing a “biased, vindictive, out of law verdict” against the former Army Chief General (retd) Pervez Musharraf under Article 209 of the Constitution.

Earlier in the day, the Special Court headed by the Peshawar High Court (PHC) Chief Justice Waqar Ahmad Seth and comprised Justice Nazar Akbar of the Sindh High Court (SHC) and Justice Shahid Karim of the Lahore High Court (LHC) issued its detailed judgment in the high treason case against Pervez Musharraf.

The detailed judgment consisted of 169 pages with a dissenting note by Justice Nazar Akbar.

The Special Court had announced its short order in the case with 2-1 majority on December 17, awarding the death penalty to the former Army Chief for suspending the Constitution and imposing an Emergency in November 2007.
