Federal govt constitutes two committees for talks with PTI, PAT: Nisar

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The federal minister for interior has said that the government has decided to constitute two committees to hold dialogue with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) in Islamabad to defuse political tension.

In his address at a press conference in Islamabad, the interior minister said that the committees will have representation from across the board political parties for which consultation is underway.

The interior minister said that the two committees would have the mandate to hold meaningful and result-oriented talks with the PTI and the PAT. He said that the government is ready to accept constitutional and legal demands of the two parties.

Nisar also appealed to the PTI and the PAT to resolve issues through dialogue for the sake of Pakistan and democracy.

It comes after the PTI Chairman Imran Khan on Sunday night gave Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif a 48-hour deadline to meet his demands and announced to launch a civil disobedience campaign against the incumbent government.
