Tajikistan desires to use Pakistani ports for its foreign trade: Official

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: A Tajik official has said that his country desires to use Pakistani ports for its foreign trade.

In a meeting with the special assistant to prime minister on foreign affairs Tariq Fatemi in Islamabad, the director of agency for state material reserves of Tajikistan Nur Muhammad Atoevich stressed the need to promote bilateral trade between the countries.

The Tajik official is visiting Pakistan from December 22 to 23 to hold talks with relevant ministries on deepening of bilateral collaboration in diverse fields.

During his meeting with the special assistant, Atoevich also underlined Tajikistan’s interest in the import of sugar, wheat and potatoes from Pakistan.

Atoevich also condoled with Tariq Fatemi over the recent terrorist attack in Peshawar school which brought grief to nations across the world.

The special assistant thanked for the support and solidarity expressed by Tajikistan’s leadership in the face of this tragedy. He reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to eradicate the scourge of terrorism.

Fatemi also highlighted the importance that Pakistan attaches to close and cooperative relations with Tajikistan.

“Tajikistan was central to our regional outreach with strong component of connectivity and economic cooperation,” Fatemi said.
