Special courts to start functioning soon: Rasheed

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Information Minister Pervaiz Rasheed has said that special courts headed by military officers will start functioning soon.

The special courts are being set up across the country for speedy trial of terror suspects under the national action plan on counter terrorism adopted on December 24 in the wake of the terror attack on the army public school in Peshawar.

Last month, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that initially nine special courts are being established across the country.

In a press release issued by the ISPR on January 9, it said that three courts each will be established in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab, two in Sindh and one in Balochistan.

Talking to media in Islamabad on Friday, the information minister further said that the country is coming out the crises and threats.

The minister said that Pakistanis will once again witness parade of armed forces on Pakistan Day celebrated on March 23.

Minorities’ worship places in Pakistan are as sacred as Mosques: Rasheed

Earlier in his address at a function on interfaith harmony in Islamabad, the information minister said that worship places of minorities living in Pakistan are as sacred as are the Mosques.

The information minister said that all places of worship are equally sacred for the state of Pakistan and anyone who attacks them is Allah’s foe.

The minister said that all Pakistanis have full religious freedom and there is no prejudice of caste, creed and faith in the country.

Pervaiz Rasheed said that there had been complete religious harmony and tolerance in Pakistan before the Afghan war.
