LAHORE: The Punjab Assembly will elect new Speaker and Deputy Speaker on Monday.

The nomination papers for the elections of both posts can be submitted at the Secretary Assembly Office by 5pm today‚ after which scrutiny of papers will be carried out.

Candidates of opposition parties PTI and PML [Q]‚ Raja Rashid Hafeez and Sardar Waqas Hassan Mokal have already submitted their papers yesterday‚ for the post of Speaker and Deputy Speaker respectively.

The Current Speaker‚ Rana Mohammad Iqbal Khan will chair the proceedings till the election of new Speaker. After the election‚ he will administer oath to the newly elected Speaker‚ who after assuming responsibilities‚ will conduct the election for the Deputy Speaker.
