PTI’s Azadi march: 3,000 FC personnel summoned in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: In a bid to cope with rallies by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) in Islamabad on Independence Day, at least 3,000 additional Frontier Constabulary (FC) personnel have been summoned in the federal capital.

The media reports said that the interior minister has issued a notification in this regard on Monday after approval of federal Interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan.

The reports further said that apart from the FC, the federal capital would be heavily guarded due to presence of Pakistan Army’s 111 Brigade commandos, Rangers, elite force and thousands of intelligence agencies’ personnel.

Nawaz summons meeting to discuss PTI’s Azadi march

On the other hand, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has summoned a meeting of senior Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) members and federal as well as Punjab cabinet ministers in Raiwind on Monday to discuss options at hand for convincing the PTI to abandon the idea of the Azadi march.

The meeting would also discuss options regarding the consequences of the march reaching the capital on August 14.
