ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) Parliamentary Party on Saturday unanimously nominated party’ Chief Nawaz Sharif as candidate of the party for the office of the Prime Minister

The meeting of PML-N’s Parliamentary Party was held at the Parliament House in Islamabad on Saturday.

Addressing the Parliamentary Party meeting‚ the PML-N leader said if his party had not been given clear mandate‚ he would have preferred to sit outside the government than making compromises.

Nawaz Sharif said today the country is facing daunting challenges like instable economy‚ poverty‚ unemployment‚ load-shedding and terrorism but expressed his resolve to address them squarely.

He said instead of spreading begging bowl before others‚ we will have to make the country stand on its own feet.

The PML-N leader cautioned his party men that we will have to come up to national aspirations and safeguard national interests.

He said that corruption will not be tolerated.

Earlier‚ talking briefly to newsmen on his arrival at Islamabad airport from Lahore PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif said it augurs well for the country that change is taking place through elections.

The PML-N leader said fortunately he himself and his party contributed to the process.

Nawaz Sharif said he prayed that peaceful and democratic transition takes place in future as well. He said governments should be formed and changed through votes of the people as this is the only civilized way for a change.

He said the nation played its role well in the general elections.

According to TASS news Agency, Nebenzya said that Moscow will continue to call for an end to violence against Palestinians and will not allow the US to muzzle the UN Security Council as Washington seeks to support Israel's operation in Gaza. "We will continue to stand firmly for ending violence against the Palestinians. Without a shadow of a doubt, we will continue to expose the abuses and sanctimony with which the US is handling the situation. We will not allow the Americans to gag the entire council with their hands in an effort to encourage further continuation of Israel's ruthless operation," he said in a speech at the Security Council.
