ASHGABAT, TURKMENISTAN: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif arrived here Saturday on a two-day visit at the invitation of President of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

On his arrival at the airport, the Prime Minister was warmly received by Deputy Prime Minister of Turkmenistan.

Clad in traditional dresses, two children presented bouquets and traditional bread to the Prime Minister.

During his visit, the Prime Minister will attend the International Conference being convened in Ashgabat to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s Permanent Neutrality.

The Prime Minister would also participate in the ground breaking ceremony of “Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) Gas Pipeline Project” along with the Presidents of Afghanistan, Turkmenistan and Indian leadership.

The Prime Minister’s visit would provide a good opportunity for Pakistan to reaffirm its support for Turkmenistan’s long standing policy of permanent neutrality.

The visit would also highlight the importance of Pakistan attaches to the TAPI Gas Pipeline Project and commitment to its early completion.
