Pakistani society condemns character assassination of top actresses, models

Islamabad, Pakistan: Pakistani society across the board has strongly condemned the character assassination of top actresses, and models; calling this act highly condemnable, improper, deplorable, unacceptable and offensive.

In an open street survey conducted by Dispatch News Desk (DND) News Agency, almost all strata of society believe that character assassination of anybody must come to an end and the practice of throwing sexual accusations against anybody must be condemned by all sane elements of the society. Some of the actresses and models under attack performed in military-sponsored propaganda dramas and films.

Respondents were of the view that keeping sensitive institutions out of controversy is also a responsibility of the institution and close liaison (even if it was of professional nature) between the institution and the actresses also must to an end because it would always provide a chance to enemies of Pakistan to drag men in uniform in controversies.

Once known as supporters of PTI and silent soldiers of Pakistan, some top models are facing filthy campaign launched against them after Adil Raja, a former spokesperson for Pakistan Ex-Servicemen Society and retired Major released a video talk claiming that the country’s powerful establishment, including top Army officers, used popular Pakistani actresses and models as ‘honey-traps’. The London-based retired Major also claimed that Pakistan’s powerful elite uses these actresses to ”trap politicians and people in key positions.”

Some top models who had been seen sitting at VIPs enclaves during national parades in past are his soft targets. Adil Raja did not name anybody but threw the first two letters of models and then trolling by naming actresses started on social media.

Respondents to the survey include students of universities, streetwalkers, shoppers in shopping malls, shopkeepers, academicians, and journalists. They were of the view that models and actresses are all respected personalities including one who got one of the highest national civil awards from the PTI government.  Some of the respondents claim that PTI is known for its slur brigades and name calling and abusing its opponents but nobody could imagine in January last year that soon targets of the PTI slur brigade would be men in uniform and top models of the country who had been twitting in favor of Pakistan army and sometimes in favor of PTI chief Imran Khan.

An academician was of the view that Pakistani politics had never observed such filthy and skimping scenes as what we are watching after Imran Khan was voted out from PM Office. Nobody is safe now and guns of slur brigades are moved toward men in uniform and toward those who do not accept Imran Khan as their leader.

Meanwhile, Maj (retd) Adil Raja while responding to Twitter messages of Pakistani actress Sajal Aly said that he (Raja) had not named anybody and used only women’s initials and there could be any actresses who have MH, MK, and SA as their initials. Sajal Aly was in the cast of “Sinf-e-Aahan” (Women of Steel); a Pakistani television propaganda series. This project was produced in collaboration with ISPR. The serial stars Sajal Aly, Kubra Khan, Yumna Zaidi, Ramsha Khan, and Syra Yousuf. Sinf-e-Aahan was the story of seven girls from different backgrounds whose lives change after joining the army. The serial aired weekly on ARY Digital from 27 November 2021 to 7 May 2022.

The professional relationship of showbiz personalities with military institutions had been under discussion in the past but nobody dared to abuse the institution except in the Noor Jahan case. Legendary Noor Jahan sang several patriotic songs during the 1965 and 1971 wars and she was too awarded several times by the state. However, this relationship was also abused by her alleged relations with the then Army Chief Yahya Khan and Hamoodur Rahman Commission Report gave details of their relationship.
