PakistanPakistan committed to build CPEC through consensus, transparency: Mushahid

URUMQI, China: Pakistan nation has a strong commitment to build China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) through consensus, transparency and inclusive development, Chairman Parliamentary Committee on (CPEC) Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed said.

Addressing the Information Ministers Forum at China-Eurasia conference in Urumqi, he said “CPEC is above any person, party, province and it is a strategic national project which seeks to unite the federation of Pakistan through progress and prosperity, particularly in the lesser developed parts of Pakistan like Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan, Balochistan and FATA”.

He said the CPEC is the flagship project of the “One Belt, One Road” and symbolises the resurgence of new Asia based on cooperation, connectivity and corridors.

Senator Mushahid Hussain said that the initiative of reviving the Silk Road represents the shift in the balance of economic and political power away from the West to the East adding that the Chinese province of Xinjiang, which borders Gilgit-Baltistan, is the future hub of cooperation and connectivity between Europe and Asia.

Thanking Chinese support for CPEC, he said that the new emerging Asia in which China is playing a pivotal role, Pakistan is opposed to any attempt at igniting a new Cold War or any proxy wars adding that regional connectivity through economy, energy, education, ports, pipelines, road and rail links was the need of the hour.

The conference was also attended by Information Ministers of China, Myanmar, Cambodia, Egypt, Belarus and representatives of Switzerland, Afghanistan and OIC.

During his stay in Urumqi, Senator Mushahid Hussain was also a keynote speaker of the Science and Technology Forum of the China-Eurasia conference which also addressed by the Prime Minister of Tajikistan as well as the Publications and Books Expo which was attended also by the Minister for Film and Publications of China and by book publishers from 16 countries.
