ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Foreign Office on Thursday urged India to avoid hurling accusations, and added that New Delhi should provide proof if any Pakistani is found involved in terrorist activity on Indian soil.

“It is inappropriate to hurl accusations without investigation and concrete evidences,” the Foreign Office Spokesman Qazi Khalilullah said at his weekly press briefing in Islamabad on Thursday.

His remarks came when asked to comment on Indian accusations of Pakistani involvement in Gurdaspur and Udhampur attacks.

“We have repeatedly asked India to refrain from accusations,” the spokesman said adding that these Indian accusations were baseless.

On Wednesday, the Indian authorities claimed to have caught a Pakistan militant Usman Faisal who was involved in a deadly attack on a military convoy in the Indian-held Kashmir.

Earlier last month, the Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh alleged that gunmen who attacked a police station in Indian Punjab’s Gurdaspur district on July 27 had come from Pakistan.

In reply to another question, the spokesman said that India has proposed August 23 and 24 as dates for the meeting between national security advisers of the two countries in New Delhi.

The spokesman said that the proposed dates are under consideration of our government and agenda of the meeting is also being prepared.

Talking about the Afghan peace process, Qazi Khalilullah said that Pakistan’s role is that of a facilitator only and matters like finalizing dates and agenda of the talks rest with Afghanistan.
