ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: As many as 2,028,920 Pakistanis have got employment abroad in different categories and professions during last two and a half years, a senior official in Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resources Development said.

During last five years (2011-2015), he told APP that around 3,417,231 Pakistanis had proceeded abroad for employment through Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment.

The ministry, he said, was making best efforts to match the technical and vocational skills of Pakistani intending emigrants according to the international standards and requirements of the foreign employers in collaboration with National Vocational Technical Training Commission (NVTTC) at Federal level and Technical Education and Vocational Training Authorities (TEVTA) at provincial level.

Answering a question, he said at present, there was no National Policy on Labour Migration. Draft of the nation policy, he said, was drafted in 2008 but it could not be finalized due to devolution of the then Ministry under the 18th constitutional amendment.

Replying to another question he said in light of the policy guidelines of the Prime Minister, the ministry was making efforts to maximize the export of manpower from Pakistan to different countries of the world.

In this regard, he said, Pakistan had signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) with four Gulf Cooperation Council Members i.e. Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and UAE in the field of export of manpower.
