Nisar discusses Imran Farooq murder case investigation with Ishratul Ibad

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Interior Minister Nisar Ali Khan on Thursday contacted the Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad on telephone and took him into confidence on progress so far made in Dr Imran Farooq murder case.

The sources said that during the telephonic conversation, the Sindh governor said that the murderers of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader should be brought to justice.

The 50-year-old Dr Imran Farooq was returning home in north London after finishing work at a local pharmacy on September 16, 2010 when he was murdered. Later, the London the Metropolitan Police said that Imran Farooq had suffered multiple stab wounds and head injuries.

On Wednesday, the interior minister told media representatives in Islamabad that Dr Imran Farooq murder case will be taken to its logical end keeping aside politics.

Nisar said that cooperation is being extended to the United Kingdom in the case related to the murder of the MQM leader Dr Imran Farooq by remaining within the parameters of law and the constitution.

The sources said that during his conversation with the Sindh governor, the interior minister also discussed the law and order situation in the province.

The interior minister also discussed his meeting with the British High Commissioner Philip Barton earlier this week.

In addition, matters pertaining to the money laundering investigation conducted by Scotland Yard of the MQM Chief Altaf Hussain also came under discussion during talks between them.
