NCOC warns of potential Coronavirus spike in Muharram

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) has warned of a potential spike in Coronavirus Cases if health guidelines and code of conduct for Muharram-ul-Haram processions are not followed.  

In its review meeting with the Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar in the Chair in Islamabad on Monday, the NCOC deliberated at length on upcoming Muharram-ul Haram processions and measures to ensure public health and safety.

The Minister for Religious Affairs Noorul Haq Qadri briefed the forum that assistance is being sought from Ulema for formulating comprehensive protocols and health guidelines during the Muharram procession. In Pakistan, the total number of people having been infected by the Coronavirus (COVID-19) has mounted to 284,660 after 539 more people tested positive on Sunday.

In the last 24 hours, 15 infected people also lost their lives which took the tally of dead people to 6,097, as per the NCOC data.
