Nawaz, Ghani discuss regional security, fight against terrorism

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Afghan President Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai held a telephonic conversation with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday and discussed the regional security and fight against terrorism.

The two leaders also discussed matters related to bilateral relations and Afghan transit trade, according to a statement of the prime minister house in Islamabad.

During the conversation, both the leaders showed their resolve to fight terrorism which is a common enemy.

The prime minister said that the bilateral relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan have been strengthening with each passing day.

The Afghan president also expressed his satisfaction that relations between the two countries have been going on an upward trajectory. He said that people-to-people and institution-to-institution contacts between the two countries are being strengthened with each passing day.

Ashraf Ghani also thanked the prime minister for sending the army chief General Raheel Sharif to Afghanistan which he said helped in further strengthening bilateral ties.
