MQM asks Ishratul Ebad to resign as Sindh governor

KARACHI, Pakistan: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has demanded resignation of the Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan from his post.

In his address at a press conference in Karachi on Monday evening, the MQM leader Farooq Sattar said that the governor Sindh failed to fulfil his responsibilities and remained silent on countless atrocities against the MQM workers.

The MQM leader said that the governor’s approach towards several matters of importance regarding the party cannot be ignored.

Farooq Sattar said that Dr Ishratul Ebad also failed to extend help in the formation of Monitoring Committees regarding forced disappearances of MQM workers and raids on the areas of the MQM strong hold.

On April 22, the MQM Chief Altaf Hussain announced in an interview with a private television channel via telephone from London that Ishratul Ebad was no longer the part of his party, adding that Ebad was the representative of the establishment.

The MQM chief said that media should not present the Sindh governor as the MQM member anymore, and also asked his party workers not to expect any cooperation from Ishratul Ebad.
