PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Engineer Shaukatullah Khan has resigned while Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)’s Sardar Mehtab Abbasi is likely to replace the outgoing governor, media citing sources reported on Tuesday morning.
Shaukatullah had been appointed as the KPK governor by the then president Asif Ali Zardar on February 11 last year by removing Barrister Masood Kauser.
The sources said that Abbasi, the opposition leader in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assembly, held a meeting with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif a few days earlier. Now Abbasi has to leave his seat of the provincial assembly to take oath as new governor of the province.
