RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The US Secretary of State John Kerry has appreciated Pakistan Army’s achievements in the ongoing operation Zarb-e-Azb against militants in the restive northwester tribal region.
In a statement, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that John Kerry visited the army’s general headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi on Tuesday.
During his one-on-one meeting with the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif and later at the delegation-level meeting, Kerry discussed wide range of issues including the overall regional security and stability in Afghanistan.
The ISPR said that the US secretary of state lauded Pakistan’s commitment to fight terrorism and also appreciated Pakistan Army’s achievements in the operation Zarb-e-Azb.

Earlier on his arrival in the GHQ, John Kerry laid the floral wreath at the Shuhada Monument and paid rich tribute to Pakistan’s martyrs. He was presented guard of honor on his arrival.

Kerry is currently in Pakistan on a two-day official visit during which he met with Pakistan’s political and military leadership including Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
The US secretary of state also led his country’s delegation in the ministerial meeting of Pakistan-US Strategic Dialogue in Islamabad.
