Iran, world powers agree to extend nuclear talks until November 24

VIENNA, Austria: Iran and the world’s six major powers have agreed on extending the ongoing talks over Tehran’s nuclear programme for another four months.

The talks which are aimed to persuade Iran to limit its nuclear programme in exchange for the lifting of sanctions, will now run until November 24.

The original deadline for a comprehensive deal between Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council – China, Russia, Britain, France and the United States – plus Germany was due to expire on July 20.

Meanwhile, the United States has said that it will unblock $2.8 billion of Iranian funds over the next four months, in return for Iran converting a quarter of its 20 percent enriched uranium stocks into fuel.
