ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Minister for Information Pervaiz Rasheed has said that the challenge of former Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has exposed the conspiracy politics of the Pakistan Tehreek-e Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan.
In a statement on Saturday, the information minister said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has already announced its candidates for by-elections in Lahore’s NA-122 and Lodhran’s NA-154 constituencies.
However, he added, that no candidate is available to the PTI as no serious person is ready to accept the party’s ticket.
The sources said that by-polls in NA-122 and NA-154 will likely be held on October 11; however, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has yet to announce the schedule.
The ruling PML-N has already announced that Sardar Ayaz Sadiq will again by its candidate in NA-122 by-election. Ayaz Sadiq had won the election on May 11, 2013 in NA-122 against Imran Khan but on August 22 this year, he was de-seated by an election tribunal which in response to a petition declared the election result of the constituency null and void due to massive rigging.
Likewise, the PML-N’s Muhammad Siddique Khan Baloch also lost his National Assembly seat from NA-154 after an election tribunal in Multan nullified the election result and ordered fresh polls.
Meanwhile talking to media, the PTI Chief Imran Khan said that consultation is underway in the party regarding their candidate for NA-122 by-polls.
