Imran Khan announces to end PTI sit-in

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Wednesday announced to end sit-in in Islamabad due to deteriorating security situation in the country.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has welcomed Imran Khan’s announcement for end of his sit-in at D-Chowk in Islamabad and asked the PTI chairman to return to the Parliament.

“Due to the situation in the country right now, we have decided to end the sit-in protest,” Imran Khan said while addressing his party supporters in Islamabad.

Imran Khan made the announcement after staging a sit-in in the federal capital since 126 days, seeking an investigation into alleged rigging in 2013 general elections.

The PTI chairman said that we expect Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to form a judicial commission to probe the election rigging.

“If we don’t get justice, we will hit the street again,” Imran Khan said.

Imran Khan said that the country needs unity at the moment to fight out the menace of terror and therefore, his party would not do opposition for the sake of the country.

Imran said that his party would participate in the committee announced by the prime minister in Peshawar today to formulate the national plan of action against terrorism and contribute to the plan.

In a statement, the prrime minister said that PTI’s reservations about general elections would be removed. He said that these reservations would be removed through mutual consultations.

The prime minister expressed the confidence that the issue would be resolved as per satisfaction of the PTI. He said that  national resolve to fight terrorism would strengthen with the decision of PTI leader to wind up his sit-in.

Earlier in the day, Imran Khan also attended an all-party conference held in Peshawar under the chairmanship of the prime minister to discuss ways to form a strategy to stop terrorist activities and flush out all terrorists from the country.

During the meeting, the leaders decided to form a committee under the chairmanship of federal interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan to prepare a national plan of action against terrorism within a week.

The leaders announced that there will be no discrimination between good and bad Taliban and the war against terror will continue with the national spirit.

On Tuesday, the country’s bloodiest terror attack took place at an army public school in Peshawar that left at least 148 persons mostly children dead, triggering a strong condemnation from around the world.
