ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan clarified on Saturday that he did not give any ultimatum to the Sindh government regarding bringing improvement in law and order situation.

“Interior Minister has no authority to give ultimatums to the provincial governments,” Nisar told the floor of the National Assembly on Saturday.

The interior minister said his news conference is on record‚ regretting that one media group reported his statement out of context.

“The federal government will extend all possible support to the provincial governments to resolve the issue of law and order,” the interior minister said, adding that these issues cannot be addressed through point scoring but consultation.

The interior minister said that he will visit Karachi and Peshawar shortly to consults with the provincial governments to improve law and order. He said that federal government will share intelligence information with the provincial government in this regard.

Nisar said he will also consult the Sindh Governor to find a solution to the situation in Karachi.
