Federal govt now plans micro smart lockdown to curb COVID-19: Asad Umar

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar has said that the government is now heading toward micro smart lockdown to target only the specific places affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a Press Conference in Islamabad on Tuesday, the minister said that the government has enforced 2,350 lockdowns across the Country, and at present, there are 85 smart lockdowns in 20 districts.

Asad Umar said that at present, there are over 7,000 Coronavirus Cases in the Country, and the government is trying to arrange home isolation for them.

The planning minister said that majority of the people followed the standard operating procedures (SOPs) which yielded positive results. He said that the media also ran effective public awareness campaigns to deliver the messages to people about the contagion. However, he warned that the COVID-19 pandemic is not yet over in the Country, and the Cases may again rise if the people discontinue following the SOPs. He urged the people to strictly adhere to the precautionary measures to completely overcome the pandemic.
