ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) said on Tuesday that the election tribunal is bound to decide about the rigging case of Karachi’s NA-256 constituency by October 25.

According to the ECP spokesman, after submission of NADRA report on NA-256 Karachi‚ election tribunal will decide on the case.

The sources said that the tribunal has the authority to declare the election illegal if voter fraud is proven along with also ordering re-polling on polling stations.

Meanwhile, the commission has given three days to file objections over a NADRA report highlighting election irregularities in NA-256. After completing thumbprint verification, NADRA in its report stated that over 77,000 votes cast during the May 11 election in the said constituency could not be verified.

The ECP has also summoned the Returning Officer of the constituency on October 12.
