ISLAMABAD: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has taken a serious notice of a ‘paid political content-PPP’ featuring an alleged telephonic conversation between Justice (retd) Malik Qayyum and Saif-ul-Rehman.

In a letter to Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA)‚ the ECP wrote that false‚ fabricated‚ personally targeted and defamatory campaign advertisements were the violation of media’s code of conduct and its likely implications may result in law and order situation in the constituencies.

The ECP has directed the PEMRA to make sure the stoppage of any such advertisements on electronic media and asked that a report should be submitted regarding the financiers of such advertisements before the Election Commission‚ the letter added.
