ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday said the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Justice (retd) Sardar Muhammad Raza would not tender resignation as sought by the Opposition parties in All Parties Conference (APC).
“We regret over demand for ECP members’ resignation. We reject APC demand for resignation of Chief Election Commissioner,” the Secretary ECP Babar Yaqoob while talking to media in Islamabad.
Babar Yaqoob said APC demanded the CEC’s resignation, which the Election Commission denounced, and added if a Candidate had any reservations regarding the polling and recounting process in any Constituency or polling station, those would be dealt as per the law.
The Secretary ECP asked the Candidates having complaints to adopt a legal process.
Babar Yaqoob said political parties should accept election results. He said the International Community declared the elections as free and fair.
In addition, he said elections 2018 turnout remained 52 percent.
