RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The United States Under Secretary of Defence for Intelligence Michael Vickers called on the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif at the army’s general headquarters in Rawalpindi on Monday.
In a statement, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that during the meeting, the two sides discussed matters of mutual interest including latest situation in the region.
17-year-old Thalassemia patient made soldier for a day
Earlier in the day, the army chief met a boy and fulfilled his desire to become a soldier of the Pakistan army for a day, according to the ISPR.
The 17-year-old Shoaib Aurangzeb is a Thalassemia patient and had expressed his desire to become part of the Pakistan army through a letter to General Raheel Sharif.
The COAS also inquired about his health and appreciated his spirits and resolve for the defence of the motherland.
Later, Shoaib Aurangzeb visited an army unit in Malir and spent his day with the troops.
