COAS, Chinese envoy discuss matters of mutual interest

RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The Chinese Ambassador Sun Weidong called on the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif at the army’s general headquarters in Rawalpindi on Monday.

In a statement, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that during the meeting the two sides discussed matters of mutual interest.

“Mr Sun Weidong, Ambassador of China to Pakistan, today called on General Raheel Sharif, Chief of Army Staff at General Headquarters and discussed with him matters of mutual interest,” the ISPR said in its press release issued on Monday.

Last month, the COAS paid a two-day official visit to China and held meetings with the Chinese political and military leadership to discuss issues pertaining to security and defence cooperation between the two countries.

In a meeting with General Raheel Sharif on January 26 in Beijing, the Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that Pakistan was China’s irreplaceable, all-weather friend and that both countries were part of community of shared destiny.
