Case registered against Altaf Hussain for threatening Rangers

KARACHI, Pakistan: A case was registered on Tuesday against the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain on the complaint of Rangers spokesperson Col Tahir Mehmood for passing threats to the paramilitary force.

The case was registered at the Civil Lines Police Station in Karachi under Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act and 506 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

On March 11, a heavy contingent of Rangers conducted a search operation at Nine Zero, the MQM’s headquarters in Karachi, and taken into custody the MQM’s Rabita Committee member Amir Khan.

During the raid, two convicted criminals and target killers were also arrested. In addition, foreign made arms and ammunition were also recovered from Nine Zero during the operation.

Later in an interview on Geo News, the MQM Chief threatened members of the paramilitary force who were involved in the operation.

“Woh the [past tense] ho jain ge,” Hussain said while talking to the show host Shahzeb Khanzada on GeoNews.

A Rangers spokesman said that Altaf Hussain had threaten Ranger Officers of dire consequences for their raid on the MQM Headquarters.
