ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said that a draft bill for protecting media persons would be tabled in the Lower House of the Parliament soon.

In his address at a condolence reference held for the martyred cameramen in Quetta incident at Parliament House in Islamabad, he said it was a very painful incident.

Speaker said that he will request Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to set up endowment fund for the welfare of journalist and their families.

He said there will be a committee having the representation of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and media organizations.

He said that media had rendered sacrifices for the sake of democracy and development of the country, adding that there should be insurance for the media persons and he will ask State Life to make a special package in this regard.

Ayaz Sadiq said media should play responsible role, adding that news should be based on evidence. Speaker National Assembly extends his full support to the media community at every forum.

The gathering offered Fateha for the departed souls of Quetta blasts.

Acting Secretary Ministry of Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Saba Mohsin said that the ministry was taking measures for the welfare of the media persons.
