Altaf Hussain announces disaffiliation with MQM

KARACHI, Pakistan: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain said on Thursday that he would remain no longer affiliated with his party from tomorrow.

Talking to media, the MQM top leader sought forgiveness from the nation and said that tomorrow would be his last address to Hyderabad University.

The MQM chief claimed that he was never accepted by the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). He accused the ISI of implicating him in cases even though no corruption was proved against him.

In addition, Hussain also held the Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah responsible for the murder of 36 MQM activists.

Meanwhile, the MQM observed a day of mourning and a wheel jam strike in Sindh on Thursday in protest against the targeted killing of its workers Sohail Ahmed.

The reports said that business centers remained partially closed while traffic was thin on the roads in the cities of Sindh.

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif took notice of killing of MQM’s worker Sohail Ahmed, and gave directions for investigation of the incident and submission of a report.

The federal interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan also sought report from the DG Rangers Sindh and the Inspector General Police Sindh about the incident.
