ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: A total of 4,190 candidates have filed nomination papers for the first-ever local bodies elections in the federal capital, according to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
The Islamabad’s local government elections are scheduled to be held on July 25 in 79 Union Councils.
There will be 13 seats for each Union Council including one Chairman, one Vice Chairman, six general seats, one youth, one peasant or worker member, two women and one minority.

Meanwhile, today was the last day for filing appeals against acceptance or rejection of nomination papers of the contesting candidates in the local government polls in the federal capital. The appeals will be disposed of tomorrow and day after tomorrow.
The contesting candidates can withdraw their nomination papers on July 5 and the final list of contesting candidates with their symbols will be issued on July 6.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) rejected various petitions filed against the upcoming local bodies polls in Islamabad including one against elections being held on non-party basis.
