ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) will screen the Kazakhstani historical dramatic film “Myn Bala: Warriors of the Steppe” at its Premises in Islamabad on Saturday (May 4) from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
“Myn Bala: Warriors of the Steppe” is based upon actual events and depicting the eighteenth century war fought between the Kazakhs and the Dzungars. The title of the film is translated as “The Thousand Boys” who fought for freedom and independence of their Motherland.
Prior to the movie screening, the Director General of PNCA Syed Jamal Shah will make the welcome address to the audience followed by the address of the Ambassador of Kazakhstan H.E Mr. Barlybay Sadykov.
Following the movie, a photo exhibition “Kazakhstan through centuries” will also be held at PNCA.
The film “Myn Bala” was made to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s independence from the Soviet Union.
Released in March 2011, the movie was directed by Akan Satayev while it was produced by Anna Kachko and Aliya Uvalzhanova.
The film was selected as the Kazakhstani entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 85th Academy Awards but it did not make the final shortlist.
