ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Mandwa – the film club of National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage (Lok Virsa) will resume its activities with a French film `The Son’ here on November 7.

One of the Top ten films of the Year 2002, the nerve-wracking suspense thriller movie from France-Belgium explores the bitter relationship between a man who has lost his son and a young boy who wants to take up an assignment as apprentice.

The plot of the mystery film is based on the story of Olivier, a carpenter by trade who teaches at a trades training center, knowingly takes on Francis Thorion, the murderer of his son, as an apprentice.

Francis is unaware of his connection with Olivier from five years ago and the mystery starts. Olivier Gourmet received the Best Actor Award at the 2002 Cannes Film Festival for his portrayal of the tormented Olivier.

The film won several awards and is known as one of the 50 Best Movies of the Decade (2000-2009), ranking at number 8.

The Mandwa club was screening movies on every weekend to provide healthy entertainment to the fun lovers of the twin cities as well as revive the fading culture of classical cinema, said an official of Lok Virsa.
