“The Sketches” – a Sufi rock band from Jamshoro (Sindh) – is ready to spellbound the audience with its performance in Coke Studio 11’s 5th Episode. “Dastaan-e-Mamool Rano” performed by “The Sketches” captures the true essence of Sindhi Sufi rock.
The band is comprised of four members – Saif Samejo, Nomi Ali, Owasi Shiekh and Roshan Sharma. Saif Samejo is the founder and lead singer of the band. When he founded “The Sketches” in 2001, he had no formal training in music.
They have presented an amazing melody of Sindhi folk with the combination of Nar and chanting sound of the kartal.
“The sketches” released their first official album “Dastkari” in 2010/2011. The songs were composed in Sindhi and Saraiki poetry. However, Pakistani music industry is largely dominated in Urdu language. After the several years of first album, they got succeeded in bringing the Sindhi poetry music to general audience.
In 2011, Saif Samejo met Nomi Ali – amateur artist and guitarist of the band.
