ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan has said that it considers enemies of Afghanistan as its own enemies and willing to extend fullest cooperation to Kabul in combating terrorism.

“Terrorism is our common enemy and requires cooperative approach to combat this menace,” the Foreign Office Spokesman Qazi Khalilullah said in response to a statement by the Afghan President Ashraf Ghani at which he lambasted Pakistan over a recent wave of terrorist attacks in Kabul.

The spokesman said that they have taken note of the press conference by the Afghan President held in Kabul and its contents relating to Pakistan.

In a press conference in Kabul on Monday, the Afghan president said that “The last few days have shown that suicide bomber training camps and bomb-producing factories which are killing our people are as active as before in Pakistan.”

“We hoped for peace but we are receiving messages of war from Pakistan,” he added.

In reply to the Afghan president’s press conference, Qazi Khalilullah said that the people and the government of Pakistan can feel the pain and anguish of the brotherly people and the Afghan government over the recent wave of terrorist attacks which have resulted in the loss of many valuable lives and injuries to scores of people.

The spokesman said that Pakistan and Afghanistan are brotherly and neighbouring countries and enjoy close and cooperative relations.

“Pakistan is committed to maintaining good neighbourly relations with Afghanistan and all other regional countries,” he said.

In addition, he said that Pakistan remains committed to supporting and facilitating an Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace and reconciliation process in Afghanistan.
