ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has announced free education for the people of Gilgit-Baltistan (GB).

This policy will be in effect from Spring Semester 2021.

The Director Students Affairs Rana Tariq Javed briefed the media about the sanction of free matriculation education policy for the people of GB.

Rana Tariq Javed said that Vice Chancellor AIOU Processor Dr. Zia Ul Qayyum has approved this policy and the University is already providing free matriculation education to the people of Balochistan and former Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).

He further added that the University has reserved significant funds in its annual budget for the provision of free education to these areas.

The people of these areas can apply for admission in the Spring 2021 Semester and they are required to contact their nearest regional office for further details.

The addresses and contact details of regional offices are available online on the University website (www.aiou.edu.pk).

The deadline for the submission of the admission form is March 5, 2021.

The Vice-Chancellor AIOU is hopeful that people of the targeted regions will fully utilize this facility. He said that AIOU being a prestigious national institution is performing its national obligation so that no one is deprived of education owing to poverty.

All the Regional Directors of these areas have been instructed to create awareness about this campaign so that the maximum number of people may be benefitted from this policy.
