ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: A total of 172,510 Students received technical education across the Country in the last three years as per the NAVTTC databank, the National Assembly was told.

In reply to a question, the Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Shafqat Mahmood told the House on Wednesday that the Ministry of Federal Education & Professional Training through the National Vocational & Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) is maintaining a databank of technical and vocational trainings in Pakistan.

The minister told that as per the NAVTTC databank, during the last three years, 85,862 Students received Skill Training, 44,258 High-Tech Training, 41,604 Conventional Training while 786 Students underwent the Training of Trainers (ToT) Court.

Shafqat Mahmood further told that as per the NAVTTC databank, there are a total of 56 Public and Private Institutes in Islamabad, and out of them, 18 (4 Public & 14 Private Institutes) are in rural areas while 38 (11 Public & 27 Private Institutes) are in urban areas.

The minister also told the House that no proposal under consideration of the government to construct/establish more technical institutes in Islamabad.

On the sidelines of Bahrain International Airshow, Commander of Ninth Air Force (US Air Forces Central Command — AFCENT), Lieutenant General Derek France called on Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force. The Air Chief reiterated his resolve to further enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners. Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
