ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced the schedule of local bodies elections in Islamabad according to which, polling in the federal capital will take place on July 25.
According to the schedule issued by the ECP on Tuesday, nomination papers for the election will be submitted on June 25 and 26.
The ECP in the schedule said that objections against nomination papers are to be filed on June 28 while the scrutiny of nomination papers will take place from June 29 and 30.
It said that appeals against acceptance and rejection of nominations papers will be filed from July 1 and 2 which will be dealt from July 3 to 4.
The contesting candidates, according to the schedule, can withdraw their nomination papers on July 5 and the final list of contesting candidates would be issued on July 6.
“The Election Commission of Pakistan hereby issues the following Schedule for election to all categories of seats in each Union council of Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) in terms of Rule 11 of the draft Islamabad Capital Territory Local Government (conduct of Elections) Rules, 2015 and calls upon the electors of each Union Council to elect their representatives,” said a notification issued by the ECP on Tuesday.
The local government elections in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have already been conducted while polling in this regard in Punjab and Sindh provinces is yet to be held.
