ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)-led federal government received US$ 3.4 billion foreign loans in its first three months, the National Assembly was told.

Replying to a question by MNA Ali Gohar Khan seeking details of loans received by the present government from foreign Countries so far, the Minister for Economic Affairs Sardar Ayaz Sadiq told the House in writing on August 13 that the present government received a total of US$ 3.4 billion in loans from April 11, 2022 to June 30, 2022.

The minister told that Pakistan received a total of US$ 365.45 million loans from foreign Countries during the said period including US$ 59.35 million from China, US$ 3.91 million from France, US$ 0.43 million from Germany, US$ 0.58 million from Japan, US$ 1.06 million from Korea, US$ 0.11 million from Kuwait, and US$ 300.000 million from Saudi Arabia.

It was further informed that from April 11, 2022 to June 30, 2022, US$ 798.60 million loans were taken from Multilateral Institutions including ADB (US$ 186.10 million), AIIB (US$ 2.75 million), ECO T/Bank (US$ 52.32 million), IBRD (US$ 47.57 million), IDA (US$ 346.99 million), IDB (US$ 10.78 million), IDB (Short Term) (US$ 120.00 million), IFAD (US$ 7.09 million) and OPEC Fund (US$ 25.00 million).

Likewise, US$ 2,240.31 million loans were received from Commercial Banks during the said period.
