LONDON: Over 130 vehicles were involved in a series of crashes in thick fog on the New Sheppey Crossing in Kent, while dozen of persons have reportedly been injured in the collisions.

The incident took place at about 07:15 BST while according to reports, eight of those injured are in critical condition.

Nobody is believed to have died in the crash, but police say “there could be people trapped” in their cars.

A Kent Police spokeswoman said visibility was a problem at the time, and witnesses said there was “very, very thick” early morning fog hovering over the bridge.
