SINGAPORE: A Flag Hoisting Ceremony was held at the Pakistan House in Singapore on Tuesday morning to commemorate the 81st National Day of Pakistan.

The High Commissioner of Pakistan to Singapore Ms. Rukhsana Afzaal hoisted the national flag to the tune of the national anthem.

Following recitation from the Holy Quran, messages of the President of Pakistan Dr. Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Imran Khan were read out, in which, congratulating the nation on this auspicious occasion, they paid rich tributes to the founding fathers of Pakistan.

Collective prayers were held for peace, progress and prosperity of the Country while seeking strength and fortitude to overcome the pandemic.

In line with the instructions of the local Foreign Office in the wake of COVID-19, the ceremony was restricted to a limited number of members of the High Commission.

23rd March commemorates the Lahore Resolution adopted on this day in 1940 whereby the Muslims of Sub-Continent expressed their resolve to struggle for an independent homeland of their own.
